What is STEP?
The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free U.S. State Department service that allows Americans and U.S. nationals traveling or living abroad to enroll their trip so the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate knows they're in the country.
Who is eligible for STEP?
STEP is available to U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals traveling or living abroad. If you hold a different citizenship, the U.S. Embassy cannot register you, and this service will not apply to your trip.
Why pay Peninsula Visa if STEP is free?
STEP itself is free, but enrolling requires navigating the State Department's travel.state.gov website, creating an account, and manually entering your trip details. Our concierge service handles the entire process on your behalf — you just provide the trip details and we take care of the rest.
When will you complete my enrollment?
We complete STEP enrollments within 1–2 business days of receiving your trip details and payment confirmation. You'll receive an email confirmation once your enrollment is complete.
What information do you need?
We need your destination country or countries, travel dates, and an emergency contact. Your passport number is helpful but optional. You can provide all of this during checkout or when adding to an existing order.
