What Is STEP?
The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program is an official U.S. State Department service that lets U.S. citizens and nationals register their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate before traveling abroad. Once enrolled, the embassy knows you're in the country — and knows how to reach you.

Who Is Eligible?
